The South Asian river dolphin is an endangered freshwater or river dolphin found in the region of Indian subcontinent, which is split into two subspecies, the Ganges river dolphin and the Indus river dolphin.
Ganges river dolphins are usually solitary creatures. The eye lacks a lens and therefore functions solely as a means of detecting the direction of light.
